I have started a daily bio about children's book authors and illustrators - my way of paying tribute to the business that my mother Hilda van Stockum was in from 1934 when her first book was published by Harper Brothers (A Day on Skates) to 2001 when the last book she illustrated (Pamela Walks the Dog) was published.
